Kevin Brennan MP, of MP4

Kevin Brennan is both a member of Parliament (for Cardiff West) and a member of MP4 the world’s only parliamentarian rock group (they believe!). As a change from sparing politics with him, we talked on the show about his musical influences (Irish, Welsh and having nicked his sister’s guitar at an early age) and the ability of four fourtyish men (two Labour, one Scots Nat and one Conservative) to not embarrass themselves (musically at least).

He impressed by walking into the studio and recognised Gummurul and had met Steve Earle that week when Earle had declined to be interviewed by me!  And he gives the low-down on Tony Blair and his guitaring (a ‘no show’). Three tracks included from MP4’s (not at all bad) CD “Cross Party” produced by Robin Millar on Revolver Records with all proceeds going to Help for Heroes.  Fine show all round.

PS As an MP, Brennan tabled an Early Day Motion in parliament calling for a National Busking Day - have promised him an appearance if he succeeds
